2018 Mock Trial Team
This year’s case is a civil one in which the plaintiff claims the defendant, Consolidated Brokers of Boise Insurance (CBB), is in breach of contract for refusing to pay out the death benefits on a life insurance policy. The defense is looking to prove that CBB is not in breach of contract and has a legally justified reason to not fulfill its obligations as part of the policy. MHS’s defense team held their own and did an excellent job presenting their case but fell short one point of winning the competition. The opening statement was presented by Peter Lally with Paige Oliveira finishing the defense’s case with her closer. The direct examinations were presented by Mike Deasy, Peter Lally, and Sam Donnellan with the cross examinations conducted by Alexandria Chase, Ben Burns, and Paige Oliveira. Key witnesses in the defense’s case were played by Kat Semple, Emily Maynard and Audrey Martin. MHS Mock Trial completed its season 2-1 with the second best record in its region.
